Dear Families and Friends,
What a week ...... I think I cursed us all with last week's newsletter when I shared the rainbow photo and my link to the Noah and Flood story!
Can I again thank everyone for their support and measured response during our Weather Incident Response last week. In particular I would like to acknowledge the efforts of staff who had to quickly respond on Thursday morning to enact some Critical Incident plans to ensure our school community was safe and informed. The situation again proved how critically important it is for all families to be registered through the free Schoolzine platform to receive newsletters and notification and only reinforces the benefit of further improving our communication by adding SIMON & PAM from Term 3.
The SIMON platform next term will sync many features across our school and includes the PAM (Parent Access Module) feature that will be instrumental in how we operate many of the day-to-day administration tasks of the school. Families will receive information about this soon so that everyone is setup for Term 3.
In this newsletter the What's On section has dates for Term 3-Please take note of the dates and add them to your family diaries. I am hopeful that these events will take place as we eventually overtake the COVID dramas and we have no more stormy nights!
Over the past week we have all but completed the installation of our Salto Securtity system that will see all school doors functioning under a monitoring system. This technological advance will impact significantly on improved child safety across our school as well as contribute to reducing long term financial costs of locksmith and key expenses.
You may have noticed some tree damage across the school site due to the storm last week. We hope to have the damaged trees professionally assessed so that we have confidence that they are safe for the children to play. Planning for the redevelopment of the back basketball court is currently underway and the fact we have fallen trees in that area is actually quite useful to getting that project started.
Yesterday's online newsletter to parents contained some useful links to some online resources the Latrobe City have promoted in response to the Storm Emergency. Also included are the Mental Health & Crisis Support links that I have supplied on the school website. Natural Disasters are just one of the many situations that apply stress onto families with Family Violence and Mental Health rates peaking in these times. If you require support please use these listed resources or feel comfortable in reaching out to me personally.
..... finally, I promise that the Catholic Education Week celebration and pizza day will happen this Friday (third time lucky).
