Uniform Information

The uniform speaks of pride and provides for students a sense of belonging to Lumen Christi. The purpose of the uniform is for the students’ wellbeing, to feel a sense of belonging, equality amongst peers, safety and respect for themselves and their school.  Students are expected to be in full uniform at all times and to keep their uniform in good condition.

UNIFORM SHOP: The Parents Group offer our families the Uniform Shop where they can purchase second hand and new uniform items.  The second hand uniform shop has a focus on sustainability and affordability therefore the prices are extremely low and we offer an ‘upsizing’ facilities.  We rely on the support of families for donations of uniform and shoes that are in good condition. Working with Mrs.Campbell, our school chaplain, we support families so that all children have access to a school uniform.  For Uniform Shop enquiries please contact the school office or our Uniform Shop Coordinator, Marie Harder.

There are 3 uniforms; summer, winter and sport. Summer uniform is to be worn in Term 1 & Term 4. Winter uniform is to be worn in Term 2 & 3. However, discretion can be exercised on days when the weather is unsuitable as long as full uniform is worn.  Sport uniform is to be worn on the set days for physical education.

No extra items of visible clothing should be worn, eg. leggings under school dresses, or long sleeved skivvies under short sleeved shirts.

Hair

Hair should be natural in colour and we recommend that any student with hair longer than shoulder length must have it tied back. Hair accessories should be black, bottle green, gold or white in colour. Extremes of hairstyles are highly discouraged, and if in doubt please consult with Mrs. Darby  before doing anything radical!  Hairstyles should not impede the wearing of a hat during terms 1 & 4.

Jewellery

Guidelines about the jewellery that can be worn by the students involve advice about simplicity and safety.  A typical primary school day is dynamic and busy, therefore making jewellery a potential hazard, while also being a distraction to students in the pursuit of keeping up with fashion trends.  We recommend limiting jewellery, to simple studs and exclude all other facial/body piercings and jewellery that could be caught eg.hoops and chains. Nail polish and makeup are not considered appropriate for a primary student to wear to school and as such are not permitted.

Shoes

Shoes for both male and female should be black only (no coloured markings), either leather or the runner style school shoe with Velcro straps. Sneakers are only worn on sports days.

Coats

Lumen Christi does not have a coat as part of the uniform. Coats/Jackets are to be worn outside of the classroom, and upon entering are to be taken off.

Beanies & Sunhats

Lumen Christi provides a school beanie. No other beanies are to be worn.  The Lumen Christi broadbrim sunhat is to be worn outside at all times from the beginning of the school year through to May and then in term 4. As part of our Sunsmart Policy Hats are worn from Father’s Day (September) until Mother’s day (May).

School bag

The green Lumen Christi school bag with the school logo printed on the front is recommended.
